Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 September 2026
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Preparation Guru. They govern your access to and use of the Preparation Guru website, web application, and services (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully before you create an account.
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.
1. About these Terms
These Terms set out what you can expect from the Service and what we expect from you. They apply every time you access the Service, whether through a browser or any other means.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organisation, and "you" includes that organisation.
These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data. Where these Terms refer to something the Privacy Policy covers in more detail, the Privacy Policy governs that subject.

3. Who we are
Preparation Guru is an online exam-preparation service for candidates preparing for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) CGL and CHSL examinations, available at https://preparation.guru. You can contact us at any time at support@preparation.guru.
4. Eligibility and age
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
By using the Service, you confirm that you meet that requirement, that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms, and that you are not barred from using the Service under any applicable law. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian is aware that you are using the Service.
We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to use the Service, and we will delete an account if we learn that it belongs to a child under 13. See section 19 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Your account
You sign in to the Service using Google Sign-In. We do not issue passwords, and we do not offer any other sign-in method.
- You are responsible for keeping your Google Account secure. Anyone who can sign in to your Google Account can access your Preparation Guru account.
- You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
- You must give us accurate information, and keep it accurate. Most of your account information comes from Google, so you can correct it in your Google Account.
- You must not share your account, sell it, transfer it, or let anyone else use it.
- You must not create accounts by automated means, or create accounts for anyone other than yourself.
- You must notify us at support@preparation.guru promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We may ask you to verify that you own the account before we act on a request relating to it, such as a request to delete data.
6. Licence to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial exam preparation.
This licence does not transfer any ownership of the Service or the Content to you. It ends automatically if you stop complying with these Terms, or if we suspend or terminate your account as described in section 20.
This licence does not allow you to:
- copy, reproduce, or republish the Content, except as described in section 9;
- sell, resell, rent, lease, or commercially exploit the Service or the Content;
- make the Service or the Content available to any third party, whether for a fee or free of charge;
- create a product or service that competes with the Service by using its Content; or
- use the Service in any way that breaches these Terms.
7. Acceptable use
We want the Service to be useful and available for everyone. To keep it that way, you agree not to:
- attempt to access, view, modify, or delete another user's account or data;
- probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, or attempt to bypass or defeat any security or access-control measure;
- introduce viruses, malware, or any other harmful code, or do anything that interferes with the proper working of the Service;
- scrape, crawl, harvest, or bulk-download the Content or any part of the Service, including by using bots, browser automation, or other automated tools;
- use automated tools to create accounts, or to generate test attempts, results, or statistics artificially;
- place an unreasonable load on the Service, for example by making excessive automated requests, that could degrade it for other users;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the personalization algorithm, scoring system, question-selection logic, or answer key;
- copy, reproduce, redistribute, resell, or republish the Content, or make it available to anyone else;
- frame, mirror, or otherwise simulate the appearance of the Service on another site;
- remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice on the Service or the Content;
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or in breach of any examination authority's rules; or
- use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm any other person.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, as described in section 20.
8. Academic integrity
Preparation Guru is a study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Staff Selection Commission or any other examination authority, recruiter, or government body, and it does not administer any examination.
You agree not to use the Service to:
- cheat in any examination, whether by taking the Service into an exam environment, or by using it to obtain live assistance during an examination;
- misrepresent your results from the Service as official examination results, or present our estimates as if they came from an examination authority; or
- breach the rules of any examination body, university, or employer.
Our practice questions and difficulty estimates are approximations designed for study. They are not official past papers, and they are not a substitute for an official syllabus, notification, or examination result.
9. Question content and intellectual property
The Service itself — its design, software, code, database structure, scoring and personalization systems, interface, and branding — is owned by Preparation Guru and protected by intellectual property laws.
Test questions, explanations, worked solutions, and the compiled question bank are owned by Preparation Guru or licensed to us. They are provided to you for your personal, non-commercial exam preparation use only.
Except where the law expressly allows it, you may not:
- copy, store, reproduce, or distribute the Content, in whole or in part;
- sell, resell, license, sublicense, rent, lease, or otherwise commercially exploit the Content;
- create derivative works from the Content, including translated or reformatted versions, or compilations of our questions; or
- use the Content to train, test, or evaluate any machine-learning or artificial-intelligence model.
You may, however, print or save individual questions for your own personal revision, and describe your experience of the Service publicly, including your own scores and progress. Preparing for your own exam is always the point.
10. Your data and analysis results
Your test performance data belongs to you. We use it, as described in our Privacy Policy, solely to run the Service and to generate your personalised practice recommendations.
You can ask us to delete your account and the data associated with it at any time, free of charge, by following the process in our Privacy Policy. We grant you those rights regardless of where you live.
We may create aggregated, de-identified statistics — for example, how many users attempted a particular question — and use them to improve the Service. Those statistics can no longer be linked back to you.
11. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback about the Service, you agree that we may use it freely, without restriction or payment to you, to improve the Service. This does not give us any rights over your personal data beyond what our Privacy Policy describes.
12. The Service is free
The Service is currently free to use. We do not charge you, we do not take payment details, and there is nothing to refund.
If we ever introduce a paid feature or subscription, we will explain the price and the terms clearly before you are asked to pay anything, and these Terms will be updated. Nothing in these Terms obliges you to pay for anything now.
13. Beta and experimental features
From time to time we may release features that are marked as beta, experimental, preview, or similar. These features are still being developed. They may be incomplete, they may change or be withdrawn without notice, and they may behave unexpectedly.
We provide beta features as they are, and we do not promise that they will work correctly or continue to exist. The disclaimers and liability limits in sections 17 and 18 apply to them in full.
14. Availability, maintenance, and changes
We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The Service may be unavailable because of scheduled or emergency maintenance, updates, faults, or problems at our infrastructure providers.
We may, at any time and without liability to you:
- modify, add to, or remove features of the Service;
- change the question bank, the number of questions, or the way tests are generated;
- change the scoring or personalization system;
- suspend the Service temporarily for maintenance or security reasons; or
- discontinue the Service altogether, in which case we will give reasonable notice where practical so that you can request a copy of your data or have it deleted.
We are not responsible for any loss caused by the Service being unavailable, including a test attempt that is interrupted. Answers are autosaved while you work, which is designed to reduce that risk.
15. Third-party services
The Service depends on third-party providers, including Google for sign-in, Supabase for authentication and database, and Cloudflare for hosting. Your use of Google Sign-In is also governed by your agreement with Google.
The Service may contain links to websites we do not control. We provide those links for convenience only. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, the content, security, or privacy practices of any third-party site or service.
16. No guarantee of exam outcomes
The Service is a study aid. We do not guarantee any specific exam result, score, rank, selection, or outcome from using the Service. Your results depend on many factors outside our control, including how much you study, how you perform on the day, and the difficulty of the examination you sit.
Our ability estimates, Guru Score, and topic-level accuracy figures are statistical estimates based on the questions you have attempted. They are not predictions of your examination result, and they should not be treated as advice about whether to sit an examination or apply for any post.
17. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. In particular, we do not warrant that:
- the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free;
- the Content is accurate, complete, current, or free of errors — including any errors introduced when questions were digitised;
- the Content reflects the current syllabus, pattern, or notification of any examination;
- our scoring, accuracy figures, or ability estimates are accurate predictions of your examination performance; or
- any defect in the Service will be corrected.
We exclude all implied warranties to the fullest extent the law allows, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
18. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Preparation Guru is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, marks, exam opportunity, data, goodwill, or anticipated savings, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service — whether the claim is based in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or otherwise, and whether or not we were advised of the possibility of such loss.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us to use the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) one thousand Indian rupees (INR 1,000).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations. Where that is the case, the exclusions and limitations in this section apply only to the extent permitted, and nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.
19. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Preparation Guru against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of the rights of any third party, including the intellectual property rights in the Content.
20. Suspension and termination
Ending these Terms by you. You may stop using the Service at any time. To have your account and data deleted, follow the process in our Privacy Policy.
Suspension or termination by us. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if:
- you breach these Terms, including the acceptable use rules;
- we reasonably believe your account has been used for abuse, fraud, scraping, or an attack on the Service or another user;
- we are required to do so by law, or by a competent authority; or
- continuing to provide the Service to you would expose us or another user to legal or security risk.
Where practical, we will tell you why. Where the breach is capable of being fixed, we will normally give you a chance to fix it before we terminate your access.
21. Effect of termination
When these Terms end, your licence to use the Service ends immediately and you must stop using it.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination continue to apply after these Terms end, including sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law.
Termination of your access does not by itself delete your personal data. To have your data deleted, follow the process in our Privacy Policy.
22. Copyright complaints
We respect the intellectual property rights of others, and we expect our users to do the same. If you believe that material available through the Service infringes a copyright you own or control, please write to support@preparation.guru with:
- a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
- enough detail for us to locate the material on the Service, such as a page address or a question identifier;
- your name, email address, and a way for us to contact you;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
We will review valid notices and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material in question.
23. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Service or to the law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
If we make a material change, we will give you reasonable notice — by email or by a clear in-app notice — before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after the change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree with an updated version, you should stop using the Service.
24. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country in which you live.
Subject to any mandatory law that applies, the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
Before starting formal proceedings, we ask that you contact us at support@preparation.guru so that we can try to resolve the issue directly.
25. General terms
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, and replace any earlier agreement or understanding.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision of these Terms, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to another party, for example as part of a merger or reorganisation, provided we continue to protect your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
- No third-party rights. These Terms do not give any third party the right to enforce any provision.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, including failures of our infrastructure providers, network outages, or governmental action.
- Notices to you. We may give you notices by email to the address associated with your account, or by a notice in the Service. Notices to us should be sent to support@preparation.guru.
- Language. These Terms are provided in English, which is the governing language of the agreement.
